Tavistock Wheelers hosted the South West District’s 25 mile Sporting TT Championships on the S5/25s between Tavistock and Okehampton, on the western edge of Dartmoor National Park.
It was a dry, warm and cloudy day after early morning rain. There was very little wind and so it it looked ideal conditions for very fast times.
And so it proved to be with Former Professional and Kernow Racing Team’s Steve Lampier smashing the course record in 55 minutes and 34 seconds beating the record mark set in 2010 by RNRMCA’s Sean Childs time of 56:25
Bere Alston’s Espoir James Pearcy, Mid Devon CC, came home second, also beating the former mark, in 56:16.
Okehampton’s Lloyd Copp came home in 59:01.
Tristan Kelsall-Spurr, Exeter Wheelers, was 2 seconds further back in 4th on a ride bike, taking the Road Bike Medal. Both Veterans Karl Jones and and Blake Pond went under the hour too.
Steve Lampier also picked up the Veteran’s standard adjusted Medal.
The Team Prize went to Tavistock Wheelers’ Michael Buckley, Nathan Woodhouse and Tony Symons.
Tavistock Wheeler Cassandra McDowall took the open and Veteran Female Medals whilst Tavistock Wheeler Lindsay Hobbs picked up the Open and Veteran Female Road Bike Medals.
Former Age Group World Champion Robin Delve, Mid Devon CC, took the Veteran’s standard adjusted Medal for Road bikes.
