The French trip is quite a tradition for the Wheelers and we follow a successful formula of staying in the Bellevue Hotel in Roscoff and making day trips from there. We’ll arrive at 08:00 on Saturday 20th and ride the short distance to the hotel with our backpacks, then enjoy a day of riding! This year, we had three groups; a fast-paced Tempos group, an Inters group focussed on distance, and another Inters group with a more leisurely approach to pace and distance. On Sunday 21st, the ferry doesn’t leave Roscoff until 15:00, so there is time for a decent ride in the morning.
For those who can stay longer than the weekend, we will leave Roscoff at 15:25 on Thursday 25th April, giving more than five days of cycling, or the chance to do something different like have a day off from cycling and visit Ile de Batz nearby.
The cost of the ferry, including a 4-berth Club Plus cabin on the outward crossing, will be about £140 each. The cost of the hotel will be about €60 each per night B&B, based on sharing a twin room.
The trip is great fun and gives you a good target for winter training. It’s normally over-subscribed, and I’ll allocate places on a first-come, first-served basis, so don’t delay!
